Welcome and Overview

  • Welcome to the DECA Club!

DECA is a competitive business club that allows students to develop and utilize the following skills:  reading for understanding, organized note-taking, creative brainstorming and verbal presentation skills all within the framework of a wide variety of business topics such as economics, marketing, entrepreneurship, communication, accounting, finance, business law, human resources, food services, travel tourism and hospitality, apparel, and more. Students get to dress professionally when competing at either the Area, State and International level of competition.  DECA gives students the opportunity to learn from each other through networking, pursue leadership roles within the club and seek out scholarship opportunities.  Students meet according to how many years they have been in the club as well as which type of competitive event they choose.  While all students can compete at the Area competition, students must qualify to compete at both the State and International levels of competition.

There is a hard deadline of Friday September 13th to join the club.  Students must always do the following two things to join the club:

    1. Complete the online Google Form
    2. Pay the required $50 for yearly dues in Infinite Campus / School Store / Student Activities / DECA

ALL STUDENTS MUST JOIN DECA EACH YEAR.  Meaning if you were a member last year, you have to join again this year to be in the club.

By the way, DECA is an old acronym for Distributive Education Clubs of America.  No one really refers to the full name anymore, but the name DECA is a world-wide brand and so the acronym itself is what the club has been called for over 50-years.  There are over 230,000 student members of DECA worldwide and HPHS DECA is typically anywhere from 100 to 200 students strong.
