Take Action to help Ukraine and its people:

• Sign a global open letter against the war in Ukraine
• Send a message to the Russian Ambassador to the US (Amnesty)
• Refugee protection: from Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) letter to Biden to “grant Temporary Protected Status to eligible Ukrainian Refugees in the United States”
• Donate - UNICEF, others noted on NPR & Timothy Snyder has suggestions on this post & this post
• Sign a letter urging the State of IL to divest from Russian companies - You can address this letter to your IL State Representative Bob Morgan and State Senator Julie Morrison, urging them to co-sponsor bills proposed by Republican House Leader Jim Durkin (HB5705, see list of cosponsors), and this condemn & divest bill proposed by Democrats.
  • Note: During our March 14, 2022 meeting, we drafted a letter urging the District 113 Board of Education to divest from Russian companies; Superintendent Dr. Bruce Law responded to the email later that evening: "Thank you and the students for taking up this important work. We have no investments in Russian equities nor do we own any Russian bonds. School districts are very limited by statute in the investments they can use for earring interest. The first concern is protecting principal, and you can read in Policy 4-30 all the constraints we are under when investing District funds."
